Tips for Working with a Contractor
Whether you are remodeling your office/home or building it up from scratch, you’re going to need a contractor. If this is your first time hiring a contractor, there may be some vital things you end up overlooking so here are 4 tips for working with a contractor:
1. Hire a Quality Contractor
This is the first and probably the most important step. Hiring a quality contractor will definitely make the whole process easier. You want to hire a professional and reputable contractor. At Chandra Interiors, we know this full well and always make sure to hire only the best contractors for our company.
2. Know What You Want
It will be hard for your contractor to know exactly what you want if you yourself aren’t sure. Have a clear vision of what you want the exterior and interior design to look like. It is important to be very clear to avoid miscommunication down the line. If possible, show photos of your ideas.
3. Draw Up a Contract
This is to protect both you and your contractor. Write down any and all agreements you both may have such as a blanket start and end date, the budget set with a little wiggle room, the work that will be done, project cleanups, etc. This, too, will prevent miscommunication.
4. Communicate Regularly
If you can, go to the job site every morning and get the laydown of what’s been done and what’s going to happen for the day. However, don’t hover. Keep your visits short but important just to let your contractor know that you’re on top of things.
