The process of regularly maintaining your flowerbeds seems pretty daunting but it actually isn’t. The key is to know what to do beforehand to ensure minimal effort in taking care of your perennial area while still making it the crowning glory of your entire garden. Our experts at Chandra Interiors do amazing landscaping jobs. Here are a few tips from our landscape architects:

1. Choose the right soil for your flowers

This step is critical as the soil is where your flowers are planted. It’s always better to research the types of soil that works well with your intended flowers!

2. Mulch

Mulching is using organic or non-organic mulch to cover your soil for a variety of reasons; usually to control weeds and retain moisture so you don’t have to pluck weeds every other day or water too often.

3. Proper watering

Before watering your flowerbeds, you need to check that the first 2 inches of the soil are dry. This is to prevent “flooding” and drowning your perennials.

4. Fertilize

Using a high-quality organic fertilizer will do wonders for the way your flowers bloom. Make sure to follow package instructions on how many and how often to apply them.

5. Remove wilting/spent flowers

This part probably didn’t need to be said but we can’t overlook the importance of this! Having spent flowers in your flowerbed may not seem like a big deal but the overall look may be ruined if you don’t cut out these unkempt flowers. Additionally, remember to clear the area around the flowerbed.
